In today’s world all residencies, businesses, and schools should switch to Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs. (CFL’s) They are better for the environment, save families money, and save energy. If all houses switched to CFL’s our environment would be cleaner. They give off brighter lights. School wouldn’t be on such a tense budget.
To begin, CFL’s are better for the environment. They have a small trace of mercury. Mercury is a type of chemical that if spilled should be appropriately cleaned up. They give off a reduced amount of pollution. To power them, the power plants don’t have to use as much coal, which gives off a smaller amount of smoke. They are brighter. It will keep your houses lit up like the Northern lights on a winter night in the North Pole. Only a few lamps will be needed to light up the house. Your house will be lit up fully all through the year.
Next, CFL’s conserve energy. They use less energy when being used. If every household, business, and school switched to just one CFL it would be equivalent to taking seven and a half million cars off the street in one year! They have a longer life expectancy. With the common light bulb they sometimes burn out quickly but with CFL’s they stay bright for almost three times as long. Money will be saved because you will not have to buy as many light bulbs throughout the year.
Not having to buy new light bulbs brings me to my final reason; CFL’s save families money. Families won’t have to pay for as much electricity because they conserve energy. You may think that because you pay more for the light bulb that you spend more money. That’s not true. With the price deduction of electricity you are really paying the same as with the other lightbulbs. They will power the house better than the standard household light bulb.
Obviously, CFL’s are a superior choice for light bulbs. With all the hype about global warming the world would be a better place. There would be less pollution. It gives people more money to spend on the main necessities of life. It just might put a colossal impact on the earth.
